Living off-grid for several years changed how I think about cycles. Planting my first garden taught me that we aren’t meant to be in constant bloom- nourishment, growth, and endings all have their place. This lesson echoed through my recovery from a brain injury and resulting depression, where I learned to embrace patience and self compassion- focusing on the smallest foundations: drinking water, eating, and resting. During this period, I also lost a very close friend, which deepened my relationship with grief and instilled a desire to create space for people to continue loving those they've lost.
